About Ashley Park

Ashley Park is a west Charlotte neighborhood along Ashley Road, roughly between Freedom Drive and West Morehead Street. Westerly Hills, Camp Greene, Enderly Park and Wesley Heights are all close by. Uptown is a short drive east.

The land was part of Camp Greene, a World War I Army training camp that ran from 1917 to 1919. A state historical marker for the camp stands on West Morehead Street. Freedom Drive, Tuckaseegee Road and Wilkinson Boulevard are the main commercial roads. Schools are assigned by address. Look up the exact address with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools before you buy.

Homes in Ashley Park

Most original homes are small one-story bungalows, cottages and ranches from the mid-1900s. Many have been updated with new kitchens, baths, roofs and windows, so condition varies a lot from house to house.

You’ll also find newer infill homes, townhomes and some condos, plus new apartments along the Wilkinson Boulevard and West Morehead Street corridors. That mix means prices can swing widely on the same street.

Selling? Buyers compare updated houses against original-condition ones nearby, so price off true comparable sales, not the highest sale on the block. Buying? Ask about roof, HVAC and sewer line age on older homes, and get a full inspection before your due diligence period ends.

Getting Around

  • Uptown: about 3 to 4 miles east.
  • Main roads: Freedom Drive, Tuckaseegee Road, Ashley Road, West Morehead Street and Wilkinson Boulevard. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is a few miles west.
  • Project: The City of Charlotte plans upgrades to the Ashley Road / Tuckaseegee Road / Freedom Drive intersection, including sidewalks, multi-use paths, crossings and extended bike lanes on Tuckaseegee. It’s listed as an upcoming project. The planned LYNX Silver Line would run along Wilkinson Boulevard toward the airport, but it has no set construction date.
