Where it is: Uptown’s southern ward, the quarter south of Trade Street and east of Tryon Street, running to I-277.
History: It was once the Brooklyn neighborhood, which urban renewal cleared in the 1960s. Stonewall Street was renamed Brooklyn Village Avenue in 2022.
Main commercial areas: Charlotte Convention Center, NASCAR Hall of Fame, EpiCentre, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, Harvey B. Gantt Center.
Parks and greenways: Marshall Park, 800 E. 3rd St., 5.5 acres, created 1973; The Green.
